Again a nice welcome on day 1 of the Boatyard Double Gin. And to finish the weekend, I'll tell you more about the botanicals they used, the taste and our perfect serve!
Joe McGirr, the founder of the Boatyard Double Gin chose the botanicals of the gin based on elimination. He only chose organic botanicals and eventually came to the combination of juniper, sweet gale, lemon peel, coriander, grains of paradise, orris root, angelica and liquorice.
When we talk about the taste of this gin, I can already tell you that we are dealing with a juniper forward gin. The juniper is clearly present, but is accompanied by the predominant taste of the grains of paradise. This combination brings a very warm feeling in the mouth. There’s also coriander when you try him neat. After the heat of the grains of paradise I get a fresh feeling of citrus, beautiful! Immediately softens the gin and his heat.
At the end, the Orris root also comes through it! Brings a floral taste at the end.
A long, warm and spicy finish! Nice and dry at the end. Just give me another bottle please!
Fantastic to drink neat! But also recommended in a nice fresh gin & tonic.
We recommend him with a Fever-Tree Indian Tonic. This makes it extra fresh and accessible for many people! Garnish with a slice of grapefruit.
Perfect to prepare yourself for a new week!
Cheers,
