Manchester Overboard Gin (57%) - Tasting notes and full review

Tasting notes and perfect serve

This Navy Strenght Gin is an upgrade of the regular signature version. With its 57%, it is much stronger and more full-bodied. By making a Navy Strenght version of it, the juniper and citrus flavours in particular have become stronger. Botanicals that can be found in this Gin are juniper, liquorice, lemon, orange, angelica root, coriander, almond and also 2 important botanicals that come directly from Manchester itself: Dandelion and Burdock root. These are some of the 12 botanicals used. N: The nose is a combination of fresh and earthy, piny notes. A very nice balance between citrus and juniper. P: Juniper from the beginning. Comes in nice and sturdy! A nice tingle of coriander and black pepper on the tongue! I also notice some liquorice, which comes along for a moment and then leaves again. There is really a lot of character behind this Gin. Juniper remains beautifully present all the time. Angelica root is in the middle of the pallet, delightful! In the end there is a touch of fresh citrus. A Gin that is beautifully balanced. F: The finish is long, starts a little sweeter, but changes to warm and dry flavours. Juniper is also here still very beautifully present, that's what I like! S: As a perfect serve, I recommend a neutral tonic. This Gin is so good that nothing may be lost in the taste. Thomas Henry is the perfect choice for this. Finishing can be done with a slice of lemon, but the Gin doesn't need anything to be perfect. You probably notice that this is an absolute top choice for us? If you are a fan of a Gin with a full character where juniper is 100% present I would definitely recommend it! Oh and try it neat, it's amazing!

Background information

Today I bring you with great enthusiasm this Manchester Overboard Gin. A few weeks ago we were contacted by the people behind this Gin. They brought us the exciting news that the bottles were being re-designed. An even more beautiful appearance that had to be seen on social media. That's why they asked us if we wanted to make a review in which we could share this amazing news. We ourselves had the pleasure to meet the people behind this Gin on Venuez. Where we also bought this bottle! Never before have I had such an open conversation with the faces behind a brand. After a nice intro of the Manchester Gin Range we were also invited to taste everything. And after tasting we talked for a long time about which gins are really good and what is so beautiful about the gin world. Seb & Jen, thank you a million times for this meeting. How we took 'Gin shots' together and laughed at the most dumb things. It was a pleasure to get to know you and we hope to see you again soon. I can only be positive about the range they have. The range consists of 4 gins. From a signature version to the Overboard that you can see here. The idea originated on a cold evening in February in the year 2013, where Seb & Jen got to know each other in a famous club in the center of Manchester. The simple question of what she was enough to fall in love. The beginning of a very nice story. This time the new bottles have more details. They stand out even more! Just like the bee on the bottle. Something that not many people know is that it is a reference to Manchester, and has to do with the industrial revolution where big companies took the lead in production methods. In belgium we would say that they are 'busy bees'. Cheers,
