Tasting notes and perfect serve
N: In the nose it is a combination of juniper and grapefruit. Amazing how the juniper takes the lead in this story. In the background I notice some piny notes. P: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, and I really mean that! This is completely my thing. This one is a bit too much for Emma. If she gets a little more experience with flavours, I'm sure this will be her thing too! Starting the pallet again with oily juniper! After the juniper, the gin changes to fresh citrus. Grapefruit, lemongrass, lemon peel. This flows very nicely into the spicy notes of coriander and pink peppercorn. Somewhere the gin also has an earthy character, top! F: The finish is mostly juniper that gives a dry and warm finish. The pine needles complete the whole thing, again, amazing! S: The perfect serve for this Gin is with its own Lone Wolf Tonic. A tasty tonic that balances the flavours of the Gin very nicely and focuses on the citrus flavours of the Gin. Finishing can be done with a slice of grapefruit, but again this Gin doesn't need anything. An absolute top quality that you need to try if you want to know what Gin really is! The Navy Strenght version is already waiting for me! And I can't wait to try it !
Background information
Today again a Gin from the UK. This time one from Scotland. Unfortunately, I think this Lone Wolf Gin is still unknown to many of our followers. Hopefully we will be able to change that by presenting you with this review. Lone Wolf Gin came on the market in May 2017, after 2 long years with lots of try-outs. A newcomer to the many other Gins that are already on the market. A true underdog. Made in the Brewdog Distillery known for its beers. But they wanted more than just beer, so why not creating their own spirits? So the idea came up to make a difference as a total newcomer and to use 21st century techniques to stand out as one of the major players in the scene! These new techniques are the result of a collaboration between the master distiller, Steven Kersley and the most famous and largest German engineering company, Arnold Holstein. Together they created a beautiful Tripple bubble still. The only one in the UK! Beautiful to see the 18M high rectification column. The higher it is, the better the quality of the spirit! So you can easily say that this is pure craftsmanship Only the most accurate process in combination with the best botanicals can ensure the perfect spirit. And they took that very seriously. To be more precise, 192 different distillates have been made from more than 80 different botanicals. This in order to achieve pure perfection. The Gin is made with a 50:50 grain base of malted wheat and malted barley. To this base they added the following botanicals: juniper, coriander, angelic root, cardamom, pink peppercorn, Thai Lemon Grass, Kaffir Lime, Mace, Almond, Fresh Lemon Peel, Fresh Pink Grapefruit peel, Lavender, Orris root and Pine Needles. One thing is clear: The wolf is here, and nothing will ever be the same again! Cheers to the Lone Wolf, Gintasticbelgium
