Next on the list, number 5: Colonsay Gin! Today we present you a gin made by the Wild Thyme Sprits, named Colonsay gin. The Colonsay gin is made by husband and wife Fin(lay) and Eileen Geekie. A married couple that left Oxfordshire in August 2016 (where they lived for 30 years) to start over at a new place, the Hibridean island of Colonsay. The gin holds a whole story, and we do want to share a little part with you (the whole story can be found on their website). It starts with a tale of the ALVA, a red-haired maiden, a very special Brownie (Spirit) with supernatural powers. She survived when her Viking boat crashed on Colonsay’s rocks. She took shelter at Tign na Uruisg and the legend says she uses all her powers to protect her secret recipes from those desperate to know. Not many get to see the beauty of ALVA, but everyone gets to taste her fabulous gin. The gin comes in bottles of 500 ml and has an ABV of 47% which is pretty high, but still you don’t get an overpowering taste of alcohol. Botanicals that you can find in Colonsay gin are:
•Juniper. •Angelica root. •Coriander. •Orange peel. •Calamus root. •Orris. •Other botanicals are kept secret. We present you our serve: • 5cl Colonsay Gin. • FT Indian Tonic. • Grapefruit, rosemary and juniper. This one is really amazing! Try it if possible! Cheers, Gintasticbelgium
