Scapegrace Gold Dry Gin: Tasting notes and full review

Tasting notes and perfect serve

N: A very fresh nose with the necessary spicy tones. Orange peel, lemon peel and tangerine, it has it all. In the background I have some coriander. By adding a drop of water I also got cinnamon and some liquorice. At the end of the story I have some clove. This is a very promising nose. P: Much more juniper here than in the nose. What a pleasure to drink neat. A round and creamy taste. If you recognize the taste of orris, you will certainly notice it in the gin. The spicy tones in the pallet are the combination of juniper and coriander. Here again there is a clear presence of citrus, I mostly have lime. F: The finish is nice and dry and lingers for a long time. The finish is rather floral with a spicy undertone. S: Our perfect Serve of this Scapegrace Gold is made with an Aqua Monaco Tonic. The tonic brings a beautiful balance, where the citrus tones are extra in the spotlight. The Gin remains very present after the addition of the tonic. Add a slice of orange and the story is absolutely correct. I can confidently say that this gin has entered our top 3 of all time, completely my taste and super refreshing in a G&T. He is also pure despite his 57% delicious to drink.

Background information

Two guys from New Zealand who didn’t know each other until one married the others sister and then they did. A year sitting in bars and lounges discussing how they always wanted to make their own gin. This is how two brothers in law and a part time musician got in to a lot of debt and created a gin that won gold in London & San Francisco. Let us present to you this Scapegrace Gold Edition. An amazing Golden Navy Strenght Gin. Launched in 2015 and the botanicals they used to make this masterpiece are: Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, Coriander Seeds, Nutmeg, Juniper Berries, Cardamom Pods, Cloves, Angelica Root, Orris Root, Liquorice Root the same botanicals as the Silver one. But there’s one extra botanical! They used tangerine peels to complete this spirit even more. You can still find the words “Rogue Society” on the bottle. Did you know that this was the first name of this Gin? But as you can see they changed it to Scapegrace Dry Gin. The bottle is still the same, and if you ask me... This bottle is so fucking amazing! We bought this beauty at www.gintonicstore.be , so I guess you have to do the same as we did if you think you’ll love this one. Stay tuned for tomorrow, when I serve you my perfect G&T and some tasting notes! Cheers to New Zealand, Cheers to Scapegrace Gin, Cheers to Ginstagram! Gintasticbelgium
