Dear reader,
Finally we can officially welcome you to the website of Gintasticbelgium. We decided to officially launch our website on January 31,2018, because today we are celebrating our first birthday as a blog. One year ago we decided quite impulsively to start with a gin-tonic blog on Instagram. We started off with a small collection of about 25 bottles. Nikias as already a fervent gin-lover, while Emma was gradually introduced into the gin world. As the passion grew, so did our collection and knowledge.
We made a good start, but our road did not always run smoothly over the past year. Since we are both still students, we had to learn a lot more about this world of spirits as well as about our studies. Here and there we made mistakes, but we learned from our mistakes and became stronger. We tasted again and again and looked for better combinations of the gin, a custom tonic and the right garnish.
Our concept has also changed over the past year. From random reviews here and there to a personal theme. A wooden background on which every bottle can stand out visually beautifully and every gin has also been profiled on our media for two days. During the first day we like to share some background information: What does this gin mean, where is it distilled, on the basis of which distillation process, what are the botanicals, are there several gins in the range,... The second day is all about our' perfect serve'. Serves that not everyone will always be able to identify with, because tastes are and remain subjective. As we work on the blog as a couple with the two of us, we always try to find a serve that we can both enjoy. In addition to the renewed theme, we also introduced a new logo.
The theme seems to have been successful, because in the meantime everyone knows how we bring our unique style of reviews and serves. 2017 was a journey, but by the end of the year we had found our place in the ginworld and blogger world. We ended the year with our top 15. 15 carefully selected gins based on our current collection, a mix of preferences from both myself and Emma and the whole story behind the gin, because that too remains very important for us.
Today, 31 January 2018, our blog blows out its first candle. In one year we have gained more than 5,000 followers on our social media channels, visited various events, got to know fantastic bloggers, and came into contact with different brands that got to know us great products.
Our first year as "Gintasticbelgium" is one that we will never forget. Cheers on a new year full of passion and delicious gin-tonics.

Beste lezer,
Eindelijk kunnen we u officieel welkom heten op de website van Gintasticbelgium. We besloten om op 31 januari 2018 onze website officieel te lanceren, omdat we vandaag exact één jaar bestaan. Eén jaar geleden besloten we vrij impulsief om met een gin-tonic blog te starten op Instagram. Met een kleine collectie van zo’n 25 flessen gingen we van start. Nikias als reeds fervente gin-lover, Emma die gaandeweg geïntroduceerd werd in de ginwereld. Naarmate de passie groeide, groeide ook onze collectie en kennis.
We maakten een goede start, maar ons parcours verliep het afgelopen jaar niet altijd even vlekkeloos. Aangezien we beide nog student zijn, moesten we naast onze studies ook over deze wereld van spirits nog heel wat bijleren. Hier en daar maakten we fouten, maar uit onze fouten leerden we en werden we sterker. We gingen opnieuw proeven en gingen op zoek naar betere combinaties van de gin, een aangepaste tonic en de juiste garnering.
Ook ons concept is het voorbije jaar gewijzigd. Van lukrake reviews hier en daar naar een vaststaand thema. Een houten achtergrond waar iedere fles visueel prachtig tot zijn recht op kan komen en iedere gin werd gedurende twee dagen op onze media geprofileerd. Tijdens de eerste dag delen we graag wat achtergrondinformatie mee: Wat houdt deze gin net in, waar wordt hij gedestilleerd, aan de hand van welk distillatieproces, wat zijn de botanicals, zijn er meerdere gins in het gamma, … De dag nadien stond in het teken van onze ‘perfecte serve’. Serves waar niet iedereen zich steeds in zal kunnen vinden, want smaken zijn en blijven subjectief. Aangezien wij als koppel met twee aan de blog werken proberen we steeds een serve te vinden waar we beide van kunnen genieten. Naast het vernieuwde thema kwamen we ook met een nieuw logo.
Het thema lijkt succes te hebben, want ondertussen kent iedereen door onze unieke stijl van reviews en serves brengen. 2017 was een zoektocht, maar tegen het einde van het jaar hadden we onze plaats binnen de ginwereld en bloggerswereld gevonden. We sloten het jaar af met onze top 15. 15 zorgvuldig geselecteerde gins op basis van onze huidige collectie, een mix van voorkeurssmaken van zowel mezelf als Emma en het hele verhaal achter de gin, want ook dat blijft voor ons zeer belangrijk.
Vandaag, 31 januari 2018, blaast onze blog zijn eerste kaarsje uit. Op één jaar tijd hebben we meer dan 5.000 volgers op onze sociale mediakanalen, bezochten we verschillende evenementen, leerden we fantastische bloggers kennen en kwamen we in contact met verschillende brands die ons fantastische producten leerden kennen.
Ons eerste levensjaar als Gintasticbelgium is er eentje dat we niet snel zullen vergeten. Cheers op een nieuw jaar vol passie en lekkere gin-tonics.
