Tarquin's The Sea Dog - Tasting notes, serve and review

Tasting notes + perfect serve

N: In this gin, the spicy juniper comes to the surface in the nose, but I experience more an earthly character than in the Tarquin's Dry gin. You get warmth from pepper and orange is noticeable.

P: The palette of flavours opens with piny juniper, which take the lead along with the earthy tones. We are already a big fan! In the end the SeaDog tastes a little bit softer and I notice a floral note.

F: The aftertaste is long, full of taste, spicy, oh so spicy. It's a gin that lasts for a long time, that's for sure!

S: The perfect serve of the Tarquin's SeaDog is made in combination with a Thomas Henry Indian tonic. This tonic ensures that the gin remains clearly highlighted in the nose and taste, and it also strengthens the cardamom used in the gin (something we are a big fan of).

Thomas Henry is a tonic that will not dominate this gin, but just strengthens the power of the gin very well. We also tried him with Fever Tree Indian, but the sweet taste isn't the right combination for this bomb. To conclude, our perfect serve: Tarquin's Sea Dog and a Thomas Henry Indian tonic. No extra garnish required!

Background information

Ready for another Tarquin’s Gin? Here we go!

In addition to the basic product, Tarquin has also produced a Navy Strenght Version. The moment he was busy making this 57% version he started to make 771 bottles of it. He would make this gin to celebrate the disbanding of the 771 Naval Air Squadron. Of course this was a great honour for the master distiller. The chance to make a gin for the Royal Navy. The team immediately started working with the basic recipe and this time it turned out to be an even stronger spirit that reached 57% ABV. This Navy Strenght Gin was immediately appreciated immensely, it was so loved that it couldn't be just a limited edition. That's why the Southwestern Distillery team decided to make this a permanent product.

In order to honour the limited 771 bottles, they gave a new name to the gin. The gin was born under the name 'The Saedog'. The recipe of this Navy Strenght Gin is the same as of the Tarquin's Dry Gin. However, for these, the botanicals have been stepped up slightly in order to release their flavours completely through the higher alcohol content. This Tarquin's 'The Seadog' is a beautiful addition to the already existing Dry Gin. A bomb of flavours, yet another beautiful example of a masterpiece created by Tarquin’s.

Tomorrow we will be here with the last gin from our Tarquin's week special! Enjoy your evening.

Cheers,

Gintasticbelgium!
