Tasting notes and perfect serve
N: I notice an earthy and spicy smell in the nose. Mainly the angelica root that clearly appears up front. Besides the angelica root, it is mainly cardamom and oily juniper that are presented in the nose. It promises to be a tasty, classic London Dry gin. At the end, you get the lemon peel in a subtle way, which is accompanied by coriander. P: The palette of flavours starts with a spicy explosion. I have a combination of juniper, coriander and cardamom. After that, the taste gradually changes to the citrus notes in this gin. Grapefruit comes in first first and is then assisted by lime. The palette of flavours remains spicy all the time, amazing! F: The finish of this gin is medium-long and dry. Fresh juniper is still there! S: This is undoubtedly a no nonsense London Dry Gin. Just like a Gin should be! Delicious in a G&T, but without a doubt also super accessible for different cocktails. For this gin we recommend a Thomas Henry tonic, the aftertaste of the Gin focuses on the dryness of the gin. The fresh keys remain deliciously present. Also with a Franklin & Sons Light Tonic is the combination very tasty. This way more accessible to the wider public. I finish this with a slice of fresh or dried grapefruit
Background information
The East London Liquor Company. These were Batch 1 & Batch 2. Of which Batch 1 is a citrus forward and Batch 2 a very spicy Gin. If you would like to read these reviews, I would advise you to scroll back on our page! But today I will bring my favorite gin of the ELLC range. The East London Liquor Company London Dry Gin. Want to know why this is my favorite gin in the series? Read on! In search of a suitable place to set up a distillery and with the necessary support of shareholders, Alex (Founder of ELLC) could find an old pub. With the help of an expert team he was able to make this pub his own distillery. But of course this takes time, and he didn't want to wait all the time... With the help of Master Distiller Jamie Baxter (the man behind Burleigh's Gin), Alex started to work on the project of his own Gin's. In 2014, Alex had his own copper still where he could distil all by himself. The final recipe is finished by Alex and Head Distiller Tom Hills. This was the beginning of a beautiful story! The London Dry Gin is made with botanicals such as lemon peel, coriander, angelica root, cubeb, cardamom, grapefruit. The Gin itself has an ABV of 40% and is bottled in a beautiful bottle that has a totally different presentation than the previous Gins we brought from the ELLC. Tomorrow more about the great flavours this London Dry Gin brought us! This top-class Gin is also available in Belgium! The official distributor in Belgium is Drinxit! (Support your local distributors) Check your local liquor store and grab a bottle! Cheers, Gintasticbelgium
